     George was born at Yalobusha County, Mississippi, in September 1852.1 The Commercial Appeal, Memphis newspaper, Sept. 20, 1869, reported "a bloody duel near Coffeeville yesterday between W. B. 'Shug' Johnson and George Wilbourn. Winchester rifles at 50 yards were used," resulting in Johnson's death. The duel was the culmination, according to the report, of an old feud.

He married Sally Talbert at Yalobusha County, Mississippi, on 30 October 1873.2 He married Virginia Tennessee Meek at Yalobusha County, Mississippi, on 28 October 1877.2 George died on 25 November 1914 at Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas, at age 62.1 His body was interred after 25 November 1914 at Grenada, Grenada County, Mississippi, at Old Hardy Methodist Church Cemetery.3
