Daniel Davisson Tabb and Gladys Victoria Eaves
Daniel's occupation: Engineer.. "My father's name was indeed Daniel Davidson Tabb, but when he was a child, they called him Dan, Jr. which led him to believe that his name was Daniel Webster Tabb after his father (his father died when Dan D. was a child), but they had called him Dan, Jr. after his grandfather (Daniel Webster Tabb). As a result, the marriage license and certificate on file for my father lists Daniel W. Tabb m. Gladys Eaves!!! It was not until he began working for the US Gov in 1942 that his birth certificate was needed and he found out his tru name. Prior to 1942, he was listed as Daniel W. Tabb in many records and after 1942, he is listed Daniel D. Tabb."

Feb, a Baptist, attended Millsaps College, A&M College, and graduated from Bowling Green University. He first engaged in the wholesale grocery business, then was a wholesale grocery salesman, and later, with Frankie, owned and operated Tabb Insurance Agency. Frankie is a member of the First Baptist Church, active in women's organizations and for many years taught Sunday School. When Walter Wilkinsons was Chancery Clerk of Chickasaw County she served as his Deputy Clerk. She then worked for him in his insurance agency. Later she and Feb owned and operated Tabb Insurance Agency. They had no children but the family happily shared their children and grandchildren with them, and there was much love and fun exchanged.

James's occupation: Lumberman/Banker.. About 1905, J. P. Tabb purchased his father's farm holdings and engaged in farming. In 1909, he with his wife and baby son, mofed to Houston and buildt a home on North Pontotoc Street. This home having been destroyed by fire in 1928, he built a new home for his family in 1929, this being the fuff brick home on North Pontotoc Street where his granddaughter, Jeannie Eastridge Henderson, and her family now live.

Already having some business interests in houston, whe he moved here in 1909, he immediately became an important part of its religious and business life, He was a concientious, charitable, Christian man. He gave freely of his means to those in need and distress, but was not a man who proclaimed his charity to the world. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and for many years he served on the Board of Trustees and the board of Stewards. For several years he served on the Board of Trustees of the Houston School.

LETTER FROM LAUDIE TABB SHELL to MAX TIDMORE dtd. Aug 29, 1971

Houston, Miss August 29, 1971:

My dear Mr. Tidmore,
You will have to excuse my writing, as my eye sight and hearing are both failing, but I am thankful that my mind is still clear and my health fairly good. I am 94 years old.
I certainly can identify Lula Tabb. She was the wife of my oldest Brother born and lived here in Houston until after her husband William Austin Tabb died and all the children were grown, then moved to Memphis to live with her oldest daughter, Mrs. J. A. Fulmer. She was totally blind when she died in her mid mineties. My father was Daniel Davidson Tabb, son of John Hugh Tabb (not Henry).
The Alexander Tabb (Uncle Sandy) who moved from Miss to Mount Pleasant, Texas was my grandfather's brother. He also had another brother living here, an itinerant preacher with two sons Ben and Joe
I think we have a pretty accurate chart of the Tabb family but I don't have a copy. Jim Hugh is out of town but when he comes back I will give him the chart you sent me and can compare it with ours and then contact you if there is any need to. I know he will be gald to get the chart.
Thanks for writing me.

Sincerely,
LAUDIE TABB SHELL

Laudie was a talented musician. Atrer graduating from Mississippi Normal College she taught music in the Mississippi schools. After her marriage she taught private piano lessons in her home. She was a member of the Methodist Church, and for many years she was the organist, taught Sunday School, and was active in the women's organizations of the church.
