     Robert was born at Dover, Lafayette County, Missouri, on 18 June 1919.1 Robert's occupation: He graduated from West Point with a degree in Civil Engineering. in 1938. He married Valerie Jean Service at Broxsted, Essex County, England, on 10 December 1949. Robert was divorced from Valerie Jean Service at Lexington, Lafayette County, Missouri, on 24 May 1956. He married Mary Ottalee Barham at Ft. Lewis, Washington, on 9 June 1957. Robert was divorced from Mary Ottalee Barham at Arlington, Virginia, on 15 June 1961. He married Mary Evelyn Coleman at Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, on 4 September 1971. He resided at 606 Glenwalden C, Tryon, North Carolina, on 16 July 2001. Robert Peyton Tabb III died on 27 January 2008 at Tryon, North Carolina, at age 88. Col. Tabb was raised in Lexington, and attended Junior College at Wentworth Military Academy. He entered the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in the summer of 1938 and graduated in 1942. He saw action as a combat engineer officer in North Africa, Normandy, France, Belgium, and Germany until after the German surrender. He also served in Korea before taking on peacetime roles in the United States and Europe. He received the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (w OLC), multiple Bronze Stars (w/ combat V), the Croix de Guerre (w/ silver star), the Ulchi Distinguished Service Medal (Korea), the Presidential Unit Citation, and numerous other medals and ribbons. He obtained his Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from Cornell University in 1947. Following his military service he became the General Assistant Manager for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) in charge of Design and Construction. This became one of the world's best rapid transit systems and won the Golden Hammer Award for one of the 10 best engineering feats of the decade. He subsequently served as one of the Project Managers on the design and construction of the Northeast Corridor Railroad Project, which totally revamped and reconstructed the rail system from Boston to Washington. As an active member of the Tryon Community, Mr. Tabb was a member of the Gillette Woods Neighborhood Association, served as President of the Tryon Riding & Hunt Club, was a member of the Board of Directors of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and the Lanier Library.1 He was buried on 4 February 2008 at West Point Cemetery, West Point, New York.1
