Ann Hite

Ann died. Her body was interred at Shepherdstown, Jefferson County, Virginia, at Episcopal Churchyard.
1 "Although I could not have been more that five years old when it occurred. I still recollect being dressed in mourning and taken to her funeral. And even at this remote period from the event, that burial scene looms up in the vista of the past as some recent occurrence. She was engaged to be married, to one of the finest looking men in the county. He had passed the evening previous to his death in her society and returned to his fathers, who resided 4 miles from town, was taken ill in the night with cramp colic and died before morning. The news of his death was conveyed to Cousin Ann very suddenly by one of the servants, she fell senseless under the appalling shock and died in 3 weeks or 3 days. I have forgotten which! She was buried by the side of her affianced husband in the Episcopal Church yard at Sheppardstown."

John was born at Gloucester County, Virginia, in 1779.
1 "My father J.L. Tabb was taken when he was but five years old to live with his Uncle Teddy of Berkeley Co. who educated both my Father and Uncle Wm. When they were of a suitable age. He wanted to send them to college, but Uncle Geo. opposed it so strongly that Uncle Ed was overruled in the matter. (This my Father told me.) Instead therefore of going to College, they were both apprenticed to Trades - My Father to a Cabinet Maker in Shepherdstown and Uncle Wm. to a Hatter in Martinsburgh, who was no other than your Uncle Robert Tabbs' son, William."
