     John served in the military. My Uncle Euell, Dad's youngest brother was with the first division sent to France in W.W.I. He fought in every major battle and said that out of his company of 120 men that went over, he and "one big fat cook" came back.

After all that, upon his return to the states they sent him to the Philippines to help quell an insurrection that was going on there. The story goes that when he returned to the states, he met and married a woman in San Francisco. They had twin sons. Uncle Euell got on one of his binges and just left and came back to Georgia where he married Aunt Sadie and had four daughters (which you now have).

I heard my Dad say he felt the story was true as a private detective came to Baker Count in the twenties looking for Uncle Ewell.
