The elder Mr. Tabb asked his ne'er-do-well son how he got the money, and young Tabb replied that Mr. (Joseph M.) Martin gave it to him. Mr. Tabb then asked his son who he was thinking of marrying. The son replied "Miss Nina Carter." And for once Mr. Tabb beamed; "That's a good catch." And so she became Mrs. J. Mackenzie Tabb."

John Mackenzie Tabb, Jr. reported in a letter dated February 7, 1990, to George E. Tabb, Jr. that "John Mackenzie Tabb (1886-1916) was residing in Middleburg (Virginia) at the time of his death. He was staying with a friend, Chaff LeLong, in a hotel in Warrenton, Virginia, following the Warrenton Horse Show, when he contracted typhoid from a pitcher of water in the room. My father tells the tale that after seeing his friend Chaff off on the train in Warrenton, my grandfather became ill and was taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, Chaff LeLong began feeling ill on the train and when the train arrived in Atlanta, he was taken to the hospital. In his hospital room, Mr. LeLong is said to have awoken from his sleep and stated "Mack Tabb just died." Shortly thereafter, he received a telegram informing that what he had said was true. As a sidenote, I find it a little ironic that my father is now dating the widow of Chaff LeLong's son." ] John was born on 10 December 1886. He married Nina Dulaney Carter at Middleburg, Loudoun County, Virginia, in 1912. John died on 15 October 1918 at Warrenton, Fauquier County, Virginia, at age 31.¹ His body was interred after 15 October 1918 at Middleburg, Loudoun County, Virginia, at Sharon Cemetery.²

     Nellie was born on 10 March 1888. She married Henry McComb Bangs in June 1910.¹ Nellie died on 16 October 1940 at age 52. Her body was interred after 16 October 1940 at Middleburg, Loudoun County, Virginia, at Sharon Cemetery.

     John's occupation: Farmer.. John was born at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, on 7 December 1890. John died on 18 November 1976 at Veterans Administration Hospital, Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia, at age 85. His body was interred after 18 November 1976 at Middleburg, Loudoun County, Virginia, at Sharon Cemetery.

     Lloyd was born on 21 August 1894. He married Margaret Hyatt Wright on 7 July 1928.^1,2 Lloyd Nolan Tabb and Margaret Hyatt Wright were divorced on 1 February 1943 at Virginia.^2,3 Lloyd died on 6 July 1960 at Port Howard Hospital, Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, at age 65. His body was interred on 8 July 1960 at Middleburg, Loudoun County, Virginia, at Sharon Cemetery.

     Elizabeth died. Elizabeth was born. She married (---?---) Marty.

     Warner was born at Gloucester County, Virginia, on 2 December 1877.¹ He married Minnie Griffith Weedon on 7 January 1903. Warner died on 19 February 1948 at High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina, at age 70.¹ He was buried after 19 February 1948 at Oakwood Cemetery, High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina.¹

     Minnie died on 17 February at High Point, North Carolina.¹ Minnie was born at Baltimore, Maryland, on 5 October 1883.¹ She married Warner Lewis Tabb on 7 January 1903.

     Maude was born at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, on 17 March 1884. She married Robert Barry Fisher on 18 June 1902. Maude died on 20 September 1956 at age 72.

     Robert was born in 1882. He married Maude Perrin Tabb on 18 June 1902. Robert died in 1956.

     John's occupation: Physician. at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia.¹ Dr. John Lloyd Tabb, Jr. was a physician and Roentgenologist in Richmond, Virginia. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the American Expeditionary Force in World War I. John was born at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, on 17 November 1892.¹ He married Emily Chaffin Crockett on 1 February 1927.² John died on 1 September 1954 at St. Lukes Hospital, Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, at age 61.^1,3 His body was interred on 3 September 1954 at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, at Hollywood Cemetery.      Mildred was born at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, on 23 May 1905. She married Richard Fitz-James Johnson , Jr. at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, on 6 April 1926.¹ Mildred died on 7 September 1960 at age 55.² She was buried after 7 September 1960 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.²

     Warner was born at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, on 17 October 1913. He married Joan Mcree Durham at Oconee County, Georgia, on 12 June 1948. Warner died on 9 November 1991 at Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia, at age 78.¹

     Joan was born at Watkinsville, Oconee County, Georgia, circa 1927.² She married Warner Lewis Tabb , Jr. at Oconee County, Georgia, on 12 June 1948. Joan died on 16 May 2019 at Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.² She was buried after 16 May 2019 at Church of the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.²

     He married Eliza Purviance Atkinson. John was born at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, on 18 October 1903. He married Bertha Dorothy Brosz on 28 April 1945. John died on 22 May 1976 at age 72. His body was interred after 22 May 1976 at Gloucester County, Virginia, at Ware Church.

     She married Frederick Hippolyte Bailliere.¹ Evalina was born circa 1862.¹ Evalina died in 1932.¹

     She married Francis Morris Lee. Katherine was born circa 1872. Katherine died in 1889.

     He married Katherine Valentine Tabb. Francis died. Francis was born.

     Philip's occupation: Farmer.. Philip Edward Tabb, Jr. attended VMI for 8 months with the class of 1847.

     Mary Susan Tabb, mother of Emmeline Allmond Crump, was a daughter of Philip Edward Tabb, the builder and first owner of "Waverly." When Philip E. Tabb, son of Philip Tabb of "Toddsbury," died in 1851, the property passed into the hands of Philip Edward Tabb, jr. Phillip, jr. died unmarried and Waverly was then sold out of the Tabb family to Dr. Walker jones, who owned it until 1870. Waverly was then sold to Harry Tabb of Auburn who purchased it as a speculation. He sold it in 1874 to Gerard Hopkins of Maryland and nephew of johns Hopkins of Baltimore. ,About 1880 Mrs. Emily Hopkins received a message from Mrs. Mary Susan Crump. Mrs Crump was an old lady at the time and as mentioned above, a daughter of Waverly's builder, Philip Edward Tabb. She was visiting the North River Neighborhood from her home in Richmond, and wished to see her childhood home. Mrs. Hopkins had no objection, but then came a further request...To humor an old lady, who could not bear to see her former home occupied by strangers (Probably an euphemism for Yankees), would the Hopkins family be good enough to vacate the house and keep out of sight during her visit? Mrs. Hopkins thought this request strange, naturally, but yielded to it. At the appointed hour Mrs. Hopkins and her children retired to the Waverly garden and kept out of sight among the boxwood while a buggy drove up in front of the house, driven by a negro boy, and the elderly Mrs. Crump got out and entered the house. The visit affected her so emotionally that Mrs. Hopkins and the children could hear her sobbing as she moved from room to room, bewailing the changes and the loss of loved ones, until finally she climbed back into the buggy and was driven away, never to return. He married Mary Susan Tabb at 'Waverly', Gloucester County, Virginia, on 1 January 1846.¹ William died on 27 February 1897 at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, at age 77.

     Emmeline was born on 13 December 1829.¹ She married Dr. John Spotswood Wellford at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, on 8 April 1858.¹ Emmeline died on 13 January 1911 at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, at age 81.¹ Her body was interred in January 1911 at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, at Hollywood Cemetery.^2,3

     Dr. was born at Fredericksburg, Virginia, on 4 July 1825.¹ He married Emmeline Madison Tabb at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, on 8 April 1858.² Dr. died on 2 January 1911 at age 85.¹ His body was interred in January 1911 at Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, at Hollywood Cemetery.^1,3
