Gentlemen,
The spirited conduct which the people of Boston have maintained, in a time of oppression, and their great perseverance in the cause of American liberty, has justly entitled them to the assistance of their fellow-subjects in the other Colonies. Actuated by this principle, the inhabitants of Amelia and Dinwiddie Counties, have sent them a small contribution of grain, to alleviate, in some degree, the sufferings which an exclusion of commerce and want of employment have accasioned among your laboring people. Sensible of the confidence reposed in you by your country, and uninformed of any particular Committee to whom we could address this donation, we have taken
the liberty to desire you would order it into such a channel as that it may be productive of the end proposed.
We are, Gentlemen, with the greatest respect, your most obedient servants.

The following is copied word for word. It was written by John Randolph of Roanoke, Va.
"Died at Clayhill, her seat in Amelia County, Virginia, on the 12 th of April 1828 in the 75th year of her age, Mrs. Frances Tabb, relict of the late John Tabb of Clayhill, and daughter of the late Sir John Peyton of Isleham in the county of Glouster, Baronet lineally descended from the Peytons of Isleham in Cambridgeshire, England. By the death of his son John, younger bro. of Mrs. Tabb by a second marriage, this ancient baronetcy became extinct. As he never assumed the title after his father's death, it was claimed and held by persons in England not entitled to it by false allegation. It is also falsely stated in De-brett's Baronetcy that Sir Robert Peyton who emigrated to Virginia during the civil wars in which he was a severe sufferer, left no heirs male. . . . "
